TELEPHONE SERVICE.
INTER-ISLAND "CONNECTION. CABLE BEING MANUFACTURED. [BY telegraph.—own correspondent.] WELLINGTON. Friday. The special cable which it is intended to lay down to enable better means of telephonic communication to be carried on across Cook Strait is now in process of manufacture in England. The cable ■'•;-■' will be brought out to the Dominion in a special tank, but it will probably bo about six months before it is laid. '.
