VISITING BOWLERS.

THE WELLINGTON TEAM. GUESTS OF AUCKLAND CLUB. ' The Wellington howlers had another en- \ joyable outing yesterday, when they were I . the guests of the Auckland Bowling Club. j ) In the morning they were taken on a ! [ sight-seeing trip by motor- to Titi- i I rangi, and in the afternoon they met a . J team of Auckland club bowlers in friendly j . competition at the club's green. The club president, Mr. W. M. Com- j mons, gave the visitors a warm welcome, and expressed the club's pleasure at. the j opportunity of playing them. Mr. Com-! mons mentioned that the Auckland Club i was the oldest in the Southern Hemis- I phere, and said its members would en- : deavour to uphold the club's traditional ; hospitality and good fellowship. I Replying on behalf of the visitors the j Wellington Club president, Mr. J. B. \ Brinsden, referred to the very happy holiday the team was having, and said ' the welcome extended to them at Auck- . land had overwhelmed them. Several games were played, but a heavy shower of rain about six o'clock brought the remainder to an abrupt conclusion. Prior to the departure of the visitors the president of the Auckland centre, Mr. J. W. Hardley, congratulated tho club on the fine entertainment it had i, provided, his remarks being endorsed by J the Carlton president, Mr. J. M. Thom- - son, whose call for cheers for the hosts i met with an enthusiastic reply. '■ 3 Mr. H. G. Mayer, of Wellington, said lie and his fellow bowlers would remem- ■ ber for many years to come the reception they had had in this city. They would look forward to the time when the Aucki land bowlers would visit Wellington, and ■ givo them the opportunity to return '.
