WORK BENCH TRICK.
When threading a piece of round stock, as wHe„ making a stud, it is difficult to hold the stock tightly in the usual type of flat-jawed vise. If held in a pipe vise the '-tn-k will usually be disfigured, which is undesirable. A good way to do the work is to attach an ordinary lathe dog .to the round stock and insert it between the jaws of tho vise with the tail downward. Tn this manner the doe does all ♦ in. w T,:j fi , tlie ; so more serves to keep the dog from turning.
