DROWNING ACCIDENT.
BATHER IN DIFFICULTIES. CARRIED DOWN THE WAIHOU. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] • - PAEROA. Thursday A young man named John Wesley Ree3 aged 20, was drowned in the WaihouEivet between Mangaiti and Waitoki, on Wed nesday evening . It appears that, with son* workmates, he went for a bathe in thi river at a spo' where the water is about 20 feet deep. He could not swim, an! got into difficulties, resulting in nis belnj quickly carried downsteam and drown el before help could be* given. { ■ The body was recovered some distance below the scenp of the accident. Deceased was a native of England, and arrived i» New Zealand a few years ago. He wa a single man, and, as far as is known; had no.relatives in the Dominion. He wat employed on stop-bank work by the Pub lie Works Department. . - , ;
