JUDGMENT AND APPEAL. In the report of an appeal case hearc at Hamilton, published on Wednesday an error occurred in the statement of th< amount of damages awarded by th magistrate at Te Kuiti. The case wai brought in the Te Kuiti Court by Lucj Alice England, against William Crowley claiming damages for alleged slanderous statements. The magistrate awardec Mrs. England £20 damages. Owing t< a telegraphic error this was stated in th< report to be £200. Crowley appealed to the Supreme Court against the judgment of the magistrate, and His Honor alio wee the appeal because he felt it difficult tc interpret the words used by Crowley a; a reflection on the plaintiff's moral character.
