THE DAIRYING INDUSTRY.
INVESTIGATION WORK. DEPARTMENTAL ACTIVITY. [by telegraph. OWN correspondent]. MOKRINSVILLE. Friday. At a meeting of committeemen representing suppliers from- the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company, held recently, the question of scientific research in the dairy industry was brought up, and a motion was passed requesting the Government to carry out further investigations in this important branch of the industry. The Minister for Agriculture, the Hon. W. Nosworthy, has replied stating that the live stock division of the Department of Agriculture has now in hand a special investigation into certain diseases of dairy cows, and that a highly-trained veterinary officer has been rolieved of "his ordinary duties in order that he may devote the whole of his time to this work. The Minister states also that active consideration is now being given to the question of establishing a special laboratory for the investigation of dairy problems.
