LACK OF AMUSEMENTS.
RAIL TERMINAL FEE ASKED.
A deputation from Rotorua met the Minister for Railways, the Hon. J. G. Coafces, on Saturday at Tauranga to ask if the department would impose a terminal feo of sixpence on all seconuf '.ass tickets from north of Morrinsvillo | and one shilling on first-class tickets, tofSrovide a fund for providing amusemet. in Rotorua in the evenings, and in advertising the resort.
It is estimated that this charge would return a sum of £500 a year, and with £500 the borough would raise by rate would provide amusement that was sadly lacking. " The place at night is dead," said Mr. J. McLean. There was general complaint that Rotorua traffic was not being developed. Mr. Coates said he would send a commercial agent to Rotorua to confer with the bodies represented. Week-end excursions were then mentioned and Mr. Coates said the commercial agent would also look into that matter.
