ACROSS AFRICA BY CAR.

Already extensive dumps for petrol oil stores are being prepared at various points in Central Africa for the forthcoming interesting attempt of 6 French caterpillar motor-cars to cross the continent. The expedition contemplates starting from Algiers this month, crossing the Sahara, thence eastward following the course of the River Niger to Lake. Chad, and thereafter traversing French Equatorial Africa to Kissenjies, on Lake Albert. Thus far the route is all French. It then depends on conditions and results whether the expedition divides —one half proceeding to Djibuti, in French Somaliland, and the other crossing Tanganyika territory to th© east coast, taking ship to Madagascar, and continuing. The journey will thus for the first time link by motor-car the most important French African possessions.
