FIAT ANNIVERSARY.
The twenty-fifth anniversary of the inauguration of the "Fiat" Company, of Turin, Italy, takes place this month, and is being celebrated by the local agents, Messrs. W. B. Scott and Co, The growth of the Fiat Company has been one of great steadiness, but of remarkable magnitude. The original works, established in 1899, covered an area of 3000 square yards and employed only 50 workmen. In 1906 these figures had increased to an area of 37,000 square yards, and 1300 men, and a-proportionally greater yearly number of vehicles. From that date onwards the Fiat works have continued to increase. A racing track of li miles is built on the roof of the company's enormous factory, on which each new car turned out is tested. A Fiat car at present holds the world's record for speed, which was established by a private owner and driver, Mr. E. A. D. Eldridge, in a 350 h.p. machine on a French racing track.
