RAILWAY COMMISSION.
TOUR OF INSPECTION.
INVESTIGATIONS IN AUCKLAND.
The commissioners, Sir Sam Fay and Sir "Vincent Raven, who are investigating the New Zealand railway system, arrived in Auckland yesterday morning by; special train from Marion. 1 They were accompanied by Mr.v W. McVilly, General Manager of Railways, and a party of officials. ; The commissioners yesterday
visited the Auckland station and yards, and the Newmarket workshops. The scheme for the new station and the outlet via Orakei was also placed before them. The commissioners will resume, their tour this morning, leaving at eight o'clock for Thames, and going on to Rotorua in the evening. They will return from Rotorua on Monday, and will leave for Opua at midnight. '%• The party. will ► return to Auckland from the North on Wednesday afternoon, and at 4.30 p.m. will take evidence from the Chamber of Commerce. The commissioners will depart, early the following • morning for Wo6dville. ..
