RESTRICTION OF HOURS.

In the section of the Local Government Act which gives thetm power to prevent objectionable noises on"premises at unreasonable hours, some ,of the local authorities see an admirable opportunity to tighten up the control of night jtennis, which is popular in • almost every suburb. ■ 5 One municipality, which prohibits play after 10 p.m. on week days, and 6 p.m. on Sundays, reoently obtains ■ a conviction against a club. Other councils also are now banning tennis i alter 10 o'clock at night.
