MR. ISITT'S SEAT.
LABOUR HAS NO HOPE. RETORT BY PRIME MINISTER. [EX TELEGRAPH.—BP2CIAL REBORT2R.] • WELLINGTON. Friday. A suggestion from Christchurch was tha subject of a question in the House of Representatives by Mr. J. A. Lee {Auckland East) this afternoon. He asked the Prime Minister whether he had noticed a message detailing a proposal that Mr. Isitt, M.P., should consider the question of resigning in the event of the Government not agreeing to electrify the Lyttelton tunnel, and then allow himself to be sent back triumphantly unopposed and ires from any promise to the Government. Mr. Lee wanted to know whether Mr. Isitt would resign, and thus give the Labour Party an opportunity of winning the seat ? Mr. Massey: I think that a question of that sort should either be not asked at all or should be answered at once. I may Bay that I have seen the message mentioned, but I don't take the slightest notice of it. I know this, that the hon. member for Christchurch North can hold the seat just as long as he wants to, and I don't think that Labour lias a hope. (Derisive laughter from tho Labour benches.)
