Tlio Government meteorologist reported last night as follows:—Present indications aro for strong north-west to southwest winds, squally and changeable weather with rain probable generally, heavy rain on tho Went Coast and in the southern-most districts of the South Island. Thej barometer is falling. HERALD SPECIAL FORECAST. The following weather forecast for 48 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied to us by Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening : —Fine weather will predominate in most places over tho week-end, but cloudy and unsettled at times, with scattered showers, especially in western and southern districts, while heavy rain us likely for a short while along the West Coast of tho South Island. Southerly to south-westerly winds, moderate * to strong, prevailing northward of New Plymouth and Napier, and strong northwest to westerly winds ruling southward of those districts. Seus moderately rough A email Antarctic disturbance is centred south-westward of New Zealand. Barometer, midnight—-30.35in. ; steady. RAINFALL RECORD.
