TOP LAYER OF FRUIT.
MUST BE FAIR SAMPLE. NEW REGULATIONS ISSUED. [BY. TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] "WELLINGTON, Friday. The following regulations relating to tho packing of strawberries, raspberries and cherries sold or offered or exposed for sale, appear in tho Gazette. (1) "Container" means any package of a capacity not exceeding 31b net weight of the fruit contained therein. "Fruit" moans strawberries, loganberries, raspberries and cherries, (2) All fruit sold or offered or exposed for sale in a container shall be packed in such a manner, (a) that any fruit exposed to view shall fairly repiusont in size, maturity and condition tho whole contents of the container, and (b) that the container shall bo full of fruit. (3) Nothing in these regulations shall bo held to prohibit "facing,"' that is to say the methodical arrangement of tho individual fruits that aro exposed to view in a container, provided the requirements of clause 2 hereof are complied with. (4) Every person who does anything contrary to the provisions of clause 2 horeof commits an offence against these regulations and shall bo liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding £20.
