Mr. E. C. Moon, postmaster at To Ukis,, is about to retire after 30 years' service, Owing to physical disability, Mr. Moon cannot write with his hands. All his clerical work is done with his toes.
Mr. A. J. Shepherd, late headmaster of the Fairfield public school, Hamilton, who has been promoted to a similar position at Lansdowne, Masterton, left Hamilton last evening to take up his appointment.

Mr. John .Vicary, of Featherston, celebrated his tijnetjwth birthday itisti week. He has resided in the Wairarapa for 65 years. For many year 3 lie was engaged in farming at li eatherston, and some years ago leased his property. He now lives in retirement in Featherston.
Mr. C. B. Sealy, whoso death under tragic circumstances is reportec: from Fiji, was for some time on the lit ail of the Public Works Department, New Zealand. He was engaged, on some of the eariy surveys and preliminary work at Arapuni before he resigned to join the Public Works' staff in Fiji-

Mr. F. J. Ohlson, a vice-president of the Auckland Rugby Union, who leaves to-morrow by the Makura on a visit to the United Stafce3 and Great Britain, was tendered a fareweU by Rugby Union officials at Eden Park on Saturday .afternoon. Mr. Ohlson will witness the Davis Cup contest in America and the All Black matches in England. Good wishes for a pleasant holiday were expressed by Mr. M. J. Sheahan, a- vice-president of the union, on behalf of the committee.

The Prime Minister, Mr. Massev, is steadily recovering from his recent indisposition. It is expected that he will be able to resumo his duties in Parliament to-morrow.
