The naval authorities state that although the chart of the approaches to Port Moresby, which was in use aboard the cruiser Brisbane when she went ashore recently, is not of recent date, there is no reason to suppose that it is either obsolete or misleading. They say that navigation in coral waters is extremely difficult. Doubtless at the time the Brisbane grounded the conditions were not alto l gether favourable. .The chart in question had been corrected up to 1919.
