LABOUR'S HOUSING BILL.
PASSAGE THROUGH COMMONS
A. and N..Z. LONDON. July 25. Amid Labour chefrs, the House of Commons carried the third reading of the Government's Housing Bill. A Conservative motion for its rejection was defeated by 226 votes to 131. • Mr. John Wheatley, Minister for Health,, who had charge of the bill, admitted that it was not Socialistic. He said he was sorry not to be in a position to introduce a Socialist measure, but the country was not ready for Socialism. This statement was received with loud Opposition cheers,' . The bill was read a first time in the House of Lords,
