FISH OR SEA SERPENT.
CURIOUS FIND ON BEACH. Among the curious fish washed up on? the beach at Cooiangatta, Queensland, as a result of a.recent .flood i« the Tweed River, was a specimen of what appears to be a sea serpent- The reptile, which was v alive when found, was 3ft. long. The " body was grey, with a wide blue band down th*> bacK. The end of the tail was white and flat, and covered with large., ; black spots. / Another specimen found in came locality was about IBin. long, wit'h the body ljin. at its widest point. It Was silver-grey, with exceedingly small ecales. The mouth was similar to that of. a sr<ake, and a bird-like bill of about 6in. /rah down to the body, where were located two black eyes. At the eud of the tail was a thin, wiry-looking spike. Local professional fishermen have never seen a similar specimen. \lt was in too advanced a state of decomposition to send to the museum.
