THEFT AT EXHIBITION.
«> —• AUSTRALIAN PEARL TAKEN. Australian and N.Z.' Cable Association. (Reed. 6.5 p.m.) LONDON. July 14. A pearl valued at £1250 has been stolen from the Australian pavilion at the Empire Exhibition. A girl assistant at Wollaston's opal jewel stall was asked to show a scarf pin to two men. She opened tho case and forgot to lock it 'while attending to the men. She went away and when she returned a minute later the pearl was missing. A woman, visitor said she saw a man take the pearl from the case but did not realise that it was a theft. The girl assistant was so upset that she forgot to ask the woman her name or to follow the men. , There is no blue as to the identity of the thieves.
