RECENT' NORTHCOTE SLIP.
ESTIMATED COST OF REPAIRS, The Northcote Borough Council last evening received advice from Mr. F. E. PowelJ, C.E., that there was no likelihood of the slip in King Street extending further into Queen Street. A retaining wall was necessary to prevent further collapse. He considered it inadvisable to attempt temporary work here. A wall constructed of ironbark piles and timbers for a length -o~: of 56ft would cost £800, and a similar • wall lower down to hold the slipped ground in King Street would cost £.1300- ■■>■ The report was deferred for consideration.
