Friday '' Under the Hamilton by-laws it is an. offence for a car to be left standing in Victoria* Street for a greater period ; than 30 minutes at any one time between tho i hours of 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Dr. Joseph was so, charged to-day, and : Mr. J. Horton, counsel for. ' defendant sought' to show, that- members of the medical profession were iii" a" different position from other users ; of ; the highway, contending that great ' hardship would bo imposed and life may be jeopardised if doctors were prevented from leaving « thtiir car* j outside [ their surgeries. The magistrate, Mr. 1 H. A. Young, said he had to administer the law as it stoodA fine of 10s with costs 7s was imposed..'
