PALMF-RSTON NORTH. Friday.
An inquest was held at Foxton to-day regarding the death of the infant, Alick John Smith, which was fatally burned through falling into a fire in a neighbour's backyard.
In returning a verdict that death was due to shock following extensive burns, the coroner said the occurrence was a pure accident, but showed the need of careful supervision and care of young children. He also commented on . the action of motor-car owners, one of whom wanted payment before driving the child to Palmerston Hospital, and another dehired to have payment guaranteed.
