COLLISION AT MOUNT EDEN.

MOTOR-CYCLIST'S INJURIES.

A cycling accident which occurred in Dominion Road, on the evening of October 17 last, was the subject of a civil suit which was tried before Mr. Justice Stringer and a jury of twelve, at the Supreme Court yesterday. Ernest Wm. Watson (Mr. Hogben) sued James D Murray (Mr. R. McVeagh), claiming £248 special damages and £255 general damages, in respect of injuries resulting from the mishap.

The plaintiff was employed at the shop of Messrs. W. and E. Hellaby, Ltd., in Dominion Road, and on the evening in question was riding home on his motor-

cycle, and at the intersection of Balmoral Road ha mot the defendant driving a motor-car. It was alleged that defendant drove on the wrong side of the road, and suddenly, and without proper precaution, turned sharply round the oornar into Balmoral Road, still on the wrong side of the road, and thus brought about the collision. Plaintiff suffered a compound fracture of the right leg, and met witr other injuries . which kept him in the hospital and under treatment lor 26 weeks. His claim was baaed upon- the loss of wages, mcurment of hospital expenses, and damage to his motor-cycle. Voluminous evidence was given as to (he manoeuvres of the drivers of both vehicles immediately prior to the 00lThe jury returned a verdict for plaintiff for £222 16s 6d general damages, and £125 special damages. - ; V": Judgment was entered accordingly.
