SCULPTURE BY PHOTOGRAPHY

Photographic sculpture according to the claims made ;on • behalf of a new, process, is to do for - the human form what the phonograph;is' doing for the» human voice. In other words/ what photography is to painting, cameography is to sculpture, Uy this«process it as claimed that it is possible to obtain photographic records from which carvings can subsequently be made. These carvings may be' either in the form of low relief medallions, or the degree of relief {can be increased up to the full proportion of nature. ! ■ - H is rather difficult to explain the procedure, but it is somewhat after the principle of contour lines on a map. . A' sheet of glass having marked upon it a series of very fine parallel lines is projected and focussed upon the face of the sitter. !
