Grigg, G. O'Halloran, J. Mackie, F. 5 Poynion, T. M. Burns, A. E. Diprose, ® R. Glasgow. , • The county engineer reported that the £ Helensville-Auckland road was very much j impaired by the heavy traffic consequent on the railway strike. He understood from the district- engineer for Public Works that the Government would defray the extra cost of maintenance on condition that no restrictions were placed upon J traffic, but he had not been successful in getting a written confirmation. The building inspector reported _ that C building permits issued during April represented a value of £9077. Some discussion ensued regarding the r meeting, of local bodies, convened by the ) Bay of Islands County Council, to be held „ at Auckland next Wednesday, to consider the question of arrears of rates on re--0 turned soldiers' sections.
