STOCKS AND SHAKES.

The tone of the Auckland Shareraarket yesterday was somewhat brisker, and a number of sales were effected. In New Zealand Government securities, War Loans, 1930, had sale at £96 17s bd, buyers closing at £96 12s 6d, sellers £97. The 1938 and 1939 issues were in demand at £96 15s and £96 12s 6d, holders of the former asking £97. NewZealand Inscribed Stock, 1927, were quoted at £98 10s, buyers £97 12s 6d, Soldiers' Loan, both bonds and inscribed stock, -were sought at £100 15s, no holders responding. In local body debentures, Devonpdrt Boroughs changed hands at £102 10s, late sellers quoting that figure, buyers £102. In banks Nationals of New Zealand were done at £6 16s 6d; a further demand at £6 16s met with no( response. New Zealands at 52s 6d were inquired for at 52s 3d. iJnions of Australia, at £14 14s had "buyers at £14 12s. " In insurances there was a sale of South British at 40s 6d, late buyers offering 40s 3d, without response. New Zealands were wanted at 29s 6d, sellers 30s. In gas Auckland* had sale at 25s 6d, more being on offer at_ that figure, late buyers 25s 4d. In mining Waihis were disposed of at ols 3d, late quotations being buyers 31s 3d, sellers 31s 6d. Grand Junctions at 5s had buyers at 2s 6d. The following sales took place :— New Zealand Government "War Loans, 1930, £96 17s 6d; Devonport Borough debentures, £102 10s; National Bank of New Zealand, £6 16s 6d; South British Insurance, 40s 6d; Auckland Gas, 25s 6d; Waihis, 31s 3d.
