AUCKLAND V. H.M.S. HOOD. WIN FOR -LOCAL TEAM. . A. competition between a team of 12 marksmen from H.M.S. Hood and a team representing the-. Auckland Rifle Association was held on Penrose range yesterday. Service conditions were observed, and firing took place on the 200 and 300-yard ranges. The local team won the match by a fair margin. The best individual scores were made by Atkinson, Spry and White, all of the Auckland team, who tied with an aggregate of 66 out of a possible 70. For H.M.S. Hood, Ordinary Seaman R. Taylor scored 62. and won the trophy presented by the Auckland Rifle Association. In the navy team, Midshipman Lowman and Chief Petty Officer Causley were second and third, with 59 and 58, both winning trophies." The special trophies for the highest score at each range were won by Midshipman Snow at 200 yards, and Able Seaman Masson at 300 yards.
