IMPRISONMENT FOR THEFT.
MAORI AT TE PUKE.

Wednesday. : A native, Te Rangihiroa, who was arrested yesterday on two charges ■" of theft, was brought before Messrs. ; Lally and Cuff, J.P.'s, this afternoon. , Mr. Ralfe, ; for accused, pleaded guilty, and asked for ■ leniency on the ground that the native was drunk. Constable j Garvey, who prosecuted, said there had bflfen numerous cases of theft in the district. A sentence of three months', imprisonment was ; imposed oh; each «charge, the sentences to be concurrent.
