MOTOR-BUS RIVALRIES.
TIME-TABLE NOT ADHERED TO
CHARGES AGAINST DRIVERS
Four motor-bus drivers, engaged in the bus service between .'-.Point Chevalier and the city, were charged in the Police Court yesterday, before Mr. J. W. Poynton, S.M., and Messrs. H. T. Garratt and J*.; Dillicar, J.P.'s, with having failed to adhere to their time-tables us laid : 'i down in . the City Council's bylaws. Defendants , were L. Paterson. (two- informations), C. G. Mr. C. Bland, acting traffic inspector, said the council, had taken ' this action owing to constant trouble between the two bus services on the Point Chevalier run. Under the by-laws the proprietors were . obliged to submit their time-tables to the council and adhere to them. In the in question, the firms ' had lately been working on each other's timetables). . One had ..: endeavoured to , run its buses late, thereby catching ' the majority of the passengers and leaving its j competitor's buses . nearly empty. ■ The defendants '■■■• include V drivers of b both the competing firms.
