HUMAN SKELETON FOUND.

UNDERNEATH BANK BUILDING

DISCOVERY IN EXCAVATION.

A gruesome discovery-, of & human skeleton was made 'by workmen engaged on excavating work underneath the Bank of New Zealand building in Queen Street. The skeleton was standing upright, alongside a, large brick foundation pillar, , and was in a good state of preservation. It appeared to be that of a person about 15 years of age. The "skull and other bones were taken possession of by! the police. The site of the bank was at one time the harbour ' foreshore,. Several large pohutukawa tree stumps • have also been uncovered by the excavators. vY
