PAPAKURA TOWN BOARD.
GREAT SOUTH ROAD REPAIRS.
Hie Papakura Town Board met on Monday evening. There were present: Messrs. D. , Weir, chairman, C. Young, D. Nicholson, W. Rhind, J. 'Bates, and the Rev. W, C. Wood.
Tho Highways Board wrote asking the boarcl if it was prepared to maintain its portion of the Great South Road until the , road was gazetted, and ' also intimating that an officer of the department would visit Papakur.i to consult as -to the necessary repairs. The chairman and Messrs. Wood and J. Walker were , appointed to represent the board. The hoard received notification that ttho hospital contribution would be £244. 'The clerk stated that a rate of l-7d would meet this.
The Franklin County Council informed the hoard that the cost of constructing a road across the Papakura channel connecting the township with Karaka would be £4000. The board appointed the chairman and Messrs. - Wood and Nicholson to confer with the county and property owners in regard to apportioning the cost.
