FLOCK HOUSE ESTATE.
NAVAL MEN IMPRESSED.
Fifty officers and men from the British Squadron visited Flock House Estate, near Bulls, last week. a. he estate was bought by the New Zealand sheep farmers with the surplus profits of their wartime wool clips, for - the agricultural training of orphan' dependants of sailors who lost their, lives in the war. The estate is a magnificent place, and the visitors were expressive in their admiration of the beauty of its surroundings. Messrs. G. L. Marshall and T; R. Lees, trustees of the fund, accompanied the party. • Mr. J. Linklatcr briefly addressed tho gathering and explained the purpose for which the Flock House Estate had been purchased, and commended the thoughtfulness of the donors. It would be an unquestionable benefit to have a place where the orphans of deceased sailors could come and receive a grounding in a farming career. : Chaplain Lloyd, of the Hood, thanked Mr. Linklater and the people for tho warmth of their welcome extended to the men. He expressed pleasure at the spirit which prompted the establishment of the Flock. House institution, and after. what he had seen, he could think of no excuse why boys who were brought out from the Old Country could fail to make a success of farming.
