The tone of the Auckland sharemarket ■was again good yestorSay, , there being general inquiry for investment stocks. In Government securities New Zealand War , Loans, 1938, available at £97 were wanted at £S6 15s. New Zealand Inscribed Stock, 1938 and 1939, were sought at £96 15s, sellers quoting £97. Soldiers' ! bonds had inquiry at £100 15s, and Soldiers' Inscribed stock at £100 10s. In local body debentures Borough of Devonports changed ha.nds at £102 10s, with late inquiry at £102. In banks New Zealands had buyers at 525, sellers 52s 6d; J National of New Zealand, buyers £6 14s I 6d, sellers £6 16a 6d; and Union of Aus- | tralia, buyers £14 lis, sellers £14 12s 6d. Australasias were sought at £13 4s, and , New South Wales at £41. In insurances New Zealands, quoted at 29s lOd, were wanted at 29s 9d. There were tubers for ; South British at 40s, sellers 4(ki 3d. In V coals business wast done in Waipaa at 17a 6d, late buyers offering the same figure, sellers 17s 9d. There was inquiry for Taupiris at 19s. "In shipping Northern Steamships sold at 15s 6d, with late inquiry at 15s 4d. The contributing issue Ranged hands at 7s 6d. Huddart-Parkers had buyers aft 42s 9d, sellers 435. There wan inquiry for Devonport Steam Ferry at 26a 9d, and for Union Steam Ship (pref,) at 19s 6d. In timbers Nationals changed hands at 225, further buyers offering 21s 9d, sellers 22|s. Miscellaneous stocks remained practically unchanged at the previous day's quotations. In mining Waihj i Grand Junctions were sold at 3s, -with furthar inquiry sit 2s 9d, sellers 3s 6d. Waihia had buyers at 30s 3d, sellers 30s 9dMoanataiaris, buyers Is 6d, sellers 2s 6d. 1 ihe following sales took place Borough of Devonport debentures £102' 10a; JWaipa Coal, 173 6d; Northern Steamship, 15s 6d; contributing issue,, is 6d, National Timber, 225; Waihi Grand Junction, 3s.
