MOUNT ROSKILL DRAINAGE.
OUTLET INTO MANUKAU. MODIFICATION OF SCHEME. The altered conditions created in the plans for the drainage of the Mount Roskill road district into the Manukau Harbour by the withdrawal of the One Tree Hill district from the scheme was recently the subject of a deputation to the Auckland Harbour Board For the Mount Roskill Board, the chairman, Mr. G. E. Tansley, explained that the conditions required by the Harbour Board made it difficult for his board to proceed alone. However, only 350 instead of 800 acres were now affected by the sctieme, and the Harbour Board was asked to amend its conditions as far as carrying the sludge -pipe to the main channel was concerned. If this was waived the road board could finance the scheme. The road board's consulting engineer, Mr. Worley, said his board's new proposal effected an estimated saving of £5000. If it were not successful the road board would guarantee to continue the sludge pipe to the main channel as previously required. At yesterday's meeting of the Harbour Board the matter wis referred to the engineer to report.
