SIR WILLIAM BIRD WOOD.
INDIAN ARMY COMMAND. J. LONDON. April 20 The Sunday Pictorial states that it is of the opinion that an intrigue is developing to prevent General Sir William Birdwood succeeding General * Sir Henry Seymouf Rawlinson as Commander-in-Chief of the Forces in India. " General Birdwood's experience is unsurpassed," says the newspaper, but he is no courtier, and he is therefore less acceptable than the candidate proposed."
