In tho finals of the 150 chopping event at the Rotorua competition, some magnificent axemunship was shown, W, Green, in tk» first heat of the semi-finals, took second place from scratch, conceding Kseo to his nearest rival. In the final he third, the limit men (26sec) having turned when ho was set off. His time was' 38sec and 34sec, respectively, for his two last attempts on the ISinch logs. It was a Splendid display. Standing over 6ft and weighing 14 stone, he. was a conspicuows figure among a gathering; of great athletes. Parkin (128« c) and the veteran Dwyer (3aec), put up fine performances in the underhand ISinoh chop, which was won by another veteran, Gregory who had a most successful day. Costello, ' who won the doublebanded ISinch (2 cuts) saw competition in 20sec, was prominent throughout the meeting. Pratt (lflsec). who won the final in the large, event, also accounted for the district championship.
