YOUNG LAD IN TROUBLE.
GRAMOPHONE RECORDS ORDER BAD LANGUAGE OYER TELEPHONE A fourteen-year-old boy appeared at the Juvenile Offenders Court on Saturday, before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., upon a chargo of having made a false statement over the telephone to a firm of music dealers with intent that they should act upon suet; to their substantial detriment.. A second charge of having used obscene langauge was also preferred against the boy. Chief-Detective Cummings said that out of sheer mischief the boy had, by telephone ordered gramophone records to the value of £1 16s to be sent to Dargaville. The order, however, had not been carried out. Upon another occasion accused had addressed a girl in obscene terms over the telephone without any apparent motive. Accused's peculiar actions were traceable to certain vicious characteristics.
The father said he would see that the boy was thrashed. The magistrate adjourned the case for 12 months and ordered the boy to be kept under the supervision of the juvenile probation officer.
