The man was followed by the young lady's brother, who, though coatless and only in his stockinged feet., gave cuasd along Wyndham and Haycock Streets; until the fugitive dashed oss Lower Symcnds Street and enterc Government House grounds. The piirsuar, in an endeavour to intercept him, ran round t0 the Princes Street boundary of th« grounds and before waiting very long was rewarded by seeing his quarry; scaling the fence. The stranger, however, was quick to observe the young man and hurriedly retraced his steps, eventually becoming lost in the vicinity of the new University College grounds. It was practically dark at tho time and pursuit was difficult. Nothing was missed from the house; which had been entered.
