PUNJAB SIKHS' RIGHTS.
COMMITTEE TO INQUIRE. Beuter. DELHI. April 13, The Punjab Government is making another attempt to meet the legitimate grievances of the Sikh community by the appointment of a committee, under the presidency of General Sir William Birdwood, commander-in-chief of the northern command. The committee will report on the principles upon which the Sikh shrino legislation should be undertaken and the best means to deal with the question of possession of swords by Sikhs as a religious symbol, though the possession of a sword without a license in the case of other Indian communities is prohibited.
