AUCKLAND SCHOOL SUBSIDY.
APPLICATION TO BE MADE,
Practical details in connection with the establishment of a school of agriculture at the, Auckland University College were discussed in committee by the college council yesterday. As a result of the deliberations, it was decided that immediate application should be made to the Government for a grant of £20,000 toward the erection and equipment of , the school, the position of professor of agriculture to be advertised conditionally upon the grant being made, ; The question of site, said the president, the Hon. George Fowlds, could be settled later on. The first building would have to be erected on the University site, because the work,' in its initial stages, was closely allied to that of other scientific departments. Later, ,' the scheme might be developed more extensively, but personally he was opposeed to the acquisition of a large area for experimental purposes at present, the :. Ruakura State farm being in his opinion the place for the practical farm training of students.. " ..,"
