'SHRINE GUARDIAN KILLED. AKALIS USE THEIR AXES. FORMER TRAGEDY RECALLED By Telegraph Association.— Copyright (Received 12.35 a.m.) Renter. DELHI'. April 7. News has been received of the murder of the Mahant in charge of the famous Sikh Shrine at Manokar, the birthplace of Sikhism. It is alleged that Akalis, armed with axes, fractured the Mahant's skull. The cause of the dispute is not known. The Deputy Commissioner of Police and the Superintendent have reached the spot, and investigations have been commenced. It is recalled that two years ago Manokar was the scene of a horrible tragedy, resulting in the death of 200 Akalis, at the hands of Pathans hired by Mahant Xaraindas Nakana. That tragedy was the beginning of a serious Akali agitation in the x unjab.
