YOUTH'S EXPLANATION.
SYDNEY MURDER TRIAL

The trial in proceeding of Thomas Roy Mitchell, the youth, of 16, who is charge with murdering Richard Pethybridge, by whom he was employed on a farm near Corowa. , , , The medical evidence showed that Pethybridge died from poisoning. The accused made a statement in the witness-box to the effect that on the day of the tragedy deceased knocked him down, and after tying his hands and feet nssaulted him. When he was released he rushed fur a weapon, but seeing the poison thought it better to finish a man like Pethybridge. He therefore took a teafpoonful of the poison which he put in Pethybridge's cup of tea. Pethybridge drank it and soon after was seized with convulsions and died.
