MOTORISTS' CLOSE CALL.
CAR'S DOUBLE SOMERSAULT. •PASSENGERS THROWN CLEAR [BY telegraph.—owk CORRESPONDENT.] CHRISTCHURCH. Monday. A £600 Courier motor-car, almost new, turned a complete somersault twice near Dromore on Saturday and landed on all four wheels. The car became uncontrollable in some loose shingle and although it was righted for a time it got out of hand again. The passengers were thrown clear, but the body, bonnet, and steering gear of the car were very badly damaged. The car was being driven by the owner, Mr. Hugh Holland, farmer and thresh-ing-mill owner of Tinwald, toward Ashburton. He had with him his brother, Mr. S. Holland, and Mr. J. Angus. Since the accident the owner of the car has complained of pains in the chest, and this morning a doctor was called from Ashburton. Mr. Angus received slight injuries to one of his shoulders.
