FATAL MOTOR CAPSIZE.
land salesman killed. DRIVER ALSO INJURED. ROAD IN GREASY STATE. FAILURE TO TAKE A BEND. [Br TELEGRAPH. OWN CORRESPONDENT.] •WANGANUI. Monday. A motor-car accident occurred this morning, resulting in the death ,of Mr. H. C. Wilson, of Marton, and minor injuries to Mr. C. Miles, the driver of the car. The deceased, who is a married man, 47 years of agr, employed as a land salesman, by Messrs. Harris and Company, came to Wanganui for the week-end. Ho intended to return to Marton by a service car, but he did not arrive at the garage until after the car had been despatched. As it was very necessary for him to be in Marton early this morning he was sent away in a special to catch the service car at Kaitoke, where it had been instructed to wait. As the special did not arrive, the driver of the service car became anxious and returned in the direction of Wanganui to ascertain the reason. When the bend at Putiki was reached it was found that a serious accident had occurred. After the rain of the last two or three days the road' was in a. greasy state. From the wheel marks it appeared as if the car had run on to the side of the road when negotiating the corner, and had capsized. Both, the driver and passenger were discovered in an injured! condition and medical aiS ' was summoned. Mr. Wilson was badly injured and was removed to the hospital, where he succumbed, to his injuries. The driver was picked up in an unconscious condition, but his injuries are not serious. The car was considerably damaged.
