Pair business was transacted on the Auckland sharemarket yesterday. In New Zealand Government securities there was inquiry for War Loans, 1927, at £97 10s, and for 1930 issue at £96 ss. Sellers quoted £97 for the 1938 and 1941 issues without response. In Inscribed Stock buyers offered £96 5s for the 1938 and 1939 issues, without result. Soldiers' Bonds and Inscribed Stock had inquiry at £100 ss, no sellers quoting. In debentures City of Auckland, 1940, sold at £95, more being wanted at £94. After fluctuations, New Zealand Breweries closed at buyers 20s 6d, sellers 21s. In banks New Zealands were done at 52s 3d, more being offered at 52s 6d, buyers 525. Australasias were sought at £13 Is without response. Quotations of Commercials (pref.) at £6 15s were later withdrawn, buyers steady at £6 ss. Nationals were quoted at £6 16s. In insurance South British sold at 41s, more being wanted at that figure, sellers 41s 3d. New Zealands were steady at 29s 10d und 30s 3d, and Nationals at 76s 6c and <9i. In finance National Mortgage were quoted at 21s, buyers 20s River ouirv' at £87, quotations of £90 being finally withdrawn. In gas buyers offered 25s 6d for Auckland* without re|P°n\ e - The contributing issue had sale at 3s lUd, more being sought at 3s 9d, sellers • shipping Devonport Steam were sought at 26s Id, and later at 275, sellers remain"A 3d. Huddart-Parkers were wanted at 42s 3d, and P. and 0. (deferred) at £285, sellers not quoting. In timber Nationals were done at 22=. the market closing, buyers , 21s 9d, sellers 22s 6d Buyers improved their otters to 2& for Kauris, sellers 29s 3d. In mining New Waiotahis (con.) sold at Bd, more being wanted at 7d, sellers 9d.
