MISSIONER'S RETIREMENT.

GIFT FOR MR. MACPHERSON.

A presentation of a travelling rug and a wallet of notes was made at the Richmond Presbyterian Church to Mr. D. Macpherson, formerly Presbyterian City Missioner, on the occasion of his retirement, at the age of 85, from active service for the church. The Rev. Frazer B. Barton presided, and there was a large attendance of officers of the church, members and friends. Reference to the zealous and valuable work done by Mr. Macpherson in the Richmond district, and to his great record of servite among the Presbyterians of Auckland, was made by the Rev. Halliday, Mr. Nairn, session clerk for Richmond, and the Rev. D. C. Herron. The spokesman for the congregation was Mr. A. Hibburt, who spoke of the high esteem in which Mr. Macpherson was held by all members of the community, and expressed the hope that although they were saying farewell to him as their mi&aoner they would not lose his interest and sympathy. During the evening musical and elocutionary items were contributed by Misses Stanners, Thomas, Newton, Fowler and McLeod, and the members of the Girls' Bible Class. At an earlier period Mr. Macpherson received from the pupils of the Sunday School a handsome silver-mounted walking stick, made of New Zealand woods, and suitably inscribed.
