SALE OF FLOCK RAMS.
[bt telegkaph.— pbess association.] CHRISTCHURCH. Thursday. The annual ram fair commenced to-day, when flock rams were offered. There was a very keen demand for Cornedale and half bred and Southdowns, a large entry of the first-named being totally cleared. English and Border Leiceaters were in over sup? ply and met with a dragging sale, but there was a good clearance at moderate prices. There 'was only a., small entry of Romneys but they were completely out of favour, only a few selling and those at low. prices. None of the few Lincoln s offered elicited a bid. The following is the range of prices: — English Leicesters. 2J:js to lligs; Eomneys, to sgs; Camedalcs, 3gs to 18gs: Border Leicesters, 2ses to Bgs; Shropshires, 2igs & lOgs; Southdowns, 31gs to 12igs; halfbreds, sgs to 15*gs: Merinos. 4gs to logs, Itye'lands, 3igs to 6g».
SANFORD'S SHARE ISSUE. An indication of the readiness of Auck* landers to invest in industrial cracerns is given in the announcement that the 20,000 preference shares offered by Sanfords, Ltd., in connection with their new share issue, were over-subscribed in three days. Applications for the 35,000 ordinary shares offered by the company to provide additional capital for enlarging and modernising the business, are being " steadily received, and it is announced that those who failed to secure _ preference shares may amend their applications to read' "ordinary shares."
LONDON TALLOW SALES. Dalgety and Company, Limited, are in receipt of the following cablegram from their London house, under dale March 19:— Tallow.—Offered 1100 casks, sold 210. Mutton neglected. Since our last cablegram the price' of good colour mixed is* Is lower, the present value beimr *6s 6d. Low and inferior descriptions are 2s lower.
WIMBLE AND COMPANY. The secretary of F. T. Wimble and Co., Sydney, reports that the recent ;■ issue of CO.OOO cumulative preference shares of s dEl each, carrying 8 per cent, per annum dividend,, has been over subscribed.
