Troops armed with .machine-gun. 1 !, surrounded a hotel in Parnell Street, at midnight, in which a party of the Free State Army mutineers are being besieged. It is reported that there are 40 of the mutineers in the party. Pourparlers are proceeding. • The story of • the mutiny in the Irish Army was disclosed on March 9 by a communique issued by the Free State Government stating that the arrests had been . ordered of two National Force officers, Major-General Liamb Tobin. former aide-de-camp to tho GovernorGeneral and Colonel Charles Dalton, brother of the Clerk of the Senate, both of whom were evading arrest. Following the demobilisation of over 900 National Army officers, General Tobin and Colonel Dalton wrote to the President charging.the Government with failing to interpret the treaty in accordance with the spirit of the Irish people. The commandant, in .charge of barracks at Temple more, following the notice of demobilisation, vacated the barracks and took to the' hills " with machine guns, rifles, and ammunition. Armoured cars were despatched from.Dublin to round up the mutineers. , .Up to the present none of the mutineers have been captured and no rifles or munitions I have been recovered.
