LONDON WOOL SALES.
STRONG OPENING PRI-CES. ADVANCE OF CROSSBREDS. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 7.35 p.m.) LONDON, Mar. 18. The wool sales opened to-day. Titer* is a very representative selection of all sorts, including 5637 bales of New Zealand wool, 3404 of Australian, and 2821 of South American. Buyers • from all centres;- including Germany, crowded the saleroom to-day. . Crossbreds and all scoured wools met with excited competition, and showed an advance of from 10 to 1-6 per cent. Merinos tended in sellers' favour. ; Slipes were firm at the recent Liverpool rates.
Messrs. Dalgety and Company, Limited, are in receipt of the following cablegram from their London house, under date March 19:--'«
Wool.-Number of buyers is large and competition animated. Average selection. Good demand from Continental and English buyers for all wool;; of good length. As compared with last sales' closing rates, Merino wools are unchanged. Fine quality greasy crossbred Id higher. Medium quality greasy crossbred Id to 2d higher. Coarse, greasy crossbred to 2|d higher. Scoured crossbred wools 2d ,to 3d higher. Slipe wools, crossbred, l£d to 2|d higher.
