RODNEY COUNTY COUNCIL.

TENDERS FOR ROAD WORKS. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN COB.BESPONDENT.] WARKWORTH. Wednesday. At a meeting of the Rodney County Council yesterday, the treasurer reported that the sum of £4000 from the general fund had been placed on fixed deposit for three months, as well as £1490 of loan money. No interest was paid on overdraft during .the current financial year.:

The council decided to enter a protest against the Government on the county council's taking over the control of cattle dips.

, Tenders were dealt with as follows:— For quarrying and breaking 185 yds. of 3in. sandstone, at Whangaripo, Mr. K. A. Parker's tender of 6s 6d' a yard was accepted. For quarrying and breaking 200 yds. of 2£iu. hard metal at Leigh, there , were two tenders st» 6s a yard from Messrs. Morley and Gravatt, respectively. Lots were dr?.»vn and Mr Morley proved the successful tenderer. For fencing at Ihinningham's deviation the tender of Messrs. Jenkins Bros., at £1 17s 6d a chain, was accepted. The tenders received for other works were considered too high. It was decided that- in some cases the work be done by day labour and that in other cases fresh tenders be called.
